Recently, Google Home rolled out a fix for users having problems with their smart lights. The bug caused lights to turn on or off without input from the user. With that issue in the rearview mirror, Google is now rolling out a Gemini for Home update designed to grant you better control over your lights. This update will also improve Spotify media selection and make broadcasting messages easier.
Starting with your smart lights, Google announced that Gemini for Home will now let you set specific color temperatures with your voice. For example, you could say. โHey Google, make the living room lights 2700 kelvins.โ With this function, Google aims to make it easier to use your voice to set the mood in your home.
Next up, Gemini for Home has been tweaked to better recognize songs, artists, and playlists on Spotify. As such, you wonโt have to worry as much about Gemini playing the wrong song. Google notes that if you want Gemini to play Liked songs or personal playlists, youโll need to have Personal Results enabled. If you donโt know how to enable this setting, the company has a support page you can check out.
The final part of this Gemini for Home update touches on messages. Previously, if you wanted to broadcast and respond to a message, you would have to make one long request. Now you can ask Gemini to broadcast a message and follow up with a reply in separate commands.
