SGH Ltd., an Australian diversified operating company, reported a net profit of A$689.2 million for fiscal 2026, up from A$486 million the previous year. This increase was driven by significantly lower significant items, although the company's underlying profit fell due to weak revenue performance. The company announced this financial update on Tuesday as it provided insights into its future expectations.

The decline in underlying profit comes amid a backdrop of challenging market conditions. SGH expects its earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) for fiscal 2027 to remain flat to experience low single-digit growth. This outlook is supported by the company's strategic initiatives, including the SGH Way and disciplined capital allocation. The company noted a robust medium-term outlook, buoyed by a projected A$1.7 trillion five-year infrastructure and construction pipeline and ongoing growth in mining production.

Despite the positive news in net profit, SGH's stock suffered a nearly 9.3 percent drop in Australia, trading at A$42.03. The company's underlying revenue decreased by 2 percent to A$10.564 billion, while total revenue fell to A$10.589 billion from A$10.744 billion last year. In response to its financial results, SGH declared a fully franked final dividend of 32 cents per share, increasing its full-year dividend to 64 cents per share, up 3 percent year-on-year. The company also plans to initiate an on-market buy-back of ordinary shares worth up to A$500 million over the next year.

Looking ahead, SGH's focus will remain on leveraging long-term market demand and its operational strategies. The anticipated buy-back and continued dividends signal the companyโ€™s commitment to returning value to its shareholders, even as it navigates a complex market landscape. As SGH moves into fiscal 2027, its ability to adapt to market conditions while capitalizing on growth opportunities will be crucial to sustaining its profitability and investor confidence.
