The Pixel 11 series debuted a new Gemini feature called Device Help . Device Help lets you tell Gemini what you want to accomplish on your phone, and the AI will return the relevant settings and even offer to make multiple changes for you in a single tap. Now, weโve learned that the feature isnโt a Pixel 11 exclusive.
Googleโs Minhaz A V recently posted a video of Device Help in action on X . The clip shows Gemini surfacing a set of features to help make the phone โcomfortable to use at night,โ including dark mode and screen brightness settings. More interestingly, though, the tweet says that Device Help is available on any Pixel phone running Android 17, and that itโs coming to more devices in the future.
Minhaz didnโt specify which devices would be getting Device Help support in the future, but it seems likely that itโll be available on phones running Android 17 โ still a pretty exclusive club today.
In our experience with Device Help so far, weโve seen mixed results. On two different Pixel 11 devices, asking for help with the phonesโ Magic Capture camera feature returned two different sets of instructions ( cโest la AI). Still, as Minhaz points out, Android phones can have hundreds of settings, and an automated process to find the right ones through natural language should be helpful, assuming Google can figure out the bugs.
Device Help is available now on Pixel phones running Android 17 (thatโs Pixel 6 and newer), with more devices to follow in the future.
