Twins Peaks fans are convinced a video game inspired by David Lynch ’s hit series is in the works.
Earlier this week, it was reported that game platform Steam accidentally changed some settings which allowed dataminers to see the achievements of hundreds of unreleased titles. These included Crazy Taxi: World Tour , Kingdom Hearts 4 , Persona 6 , Silent Hill: Townfall and many more.
A number of unannounced games were also revealed during the leak, including a new Walking Dead title and a remake of Shrek 2 . According to one Reddit user, placeholder Steam achievements for an unannounced Twin Peaks game were also uncovered.
Following the reveal, another fan claimed they reached out to Twin Peaks producer Sabrina Sutherland to ask about the rumour. “There is a game that will be coming out eventually,” she allegedly replied. Three years ago, a report claimed a video game adaptation of Twin Peaks was in the works but nothing official was ever confirmed.
A FUCKING TWIN PEAKS GAME IS ACTUALLY HAPPENING??? WHAT pic.twitter.com/Xk3KdicTa6
“Considering how many games were inspired by Twin Peaks , I’m surprised it took this long to get an actual game for it,” wrote one fan on Reddit. ”There was a fan-made Twin Peaks game that got dmca-ed last year so maybe it was taken down cause they were making this game,” suggested another.
However not everyone is stoked on the idea of a Twin Peaks video game after the passing of series creator David Lynch and the lukewarm reception to 2019’s VR experience.
“Genuinely surprised this is real. I say this is a gigantic fan of Twin Peaks who’s watched it dozens of times, I’m not really sure how I feel about it, especially with Lynch having passed away. There’s a part of me that’s intrigued to see what this is and who’s making it, but the majority of me feels kinda repulsed by the idea at the same time,” wrote one fan on Reddit.
