401k vs Roth IRA — which one should you even use?
So I've been maxing out my 401k for years because "tax-deferred is always better," right? But now I'm seeing all these Roth IRA posts everywhere and I'm second-guessing everything. Is it really just about income level or are there other factors?
I'm in my early 30s, make six figures, and my employer matches 5% of my 401k. But I've got student loans and a mortgage eating my paycheck. Should I split contributions or go all-in on one? What do you think?
