anyone else dealing with buyer's remorse after first home purchase?

anyone else dealing with buyer's remorse after first home purchase?
I'm still trying to bounce back from my first home buying experience and I'm not alone, right? After months of saving for a down payment, I thought I was set. But after closing on our dream home, doubts crept in. The mortgage payments are way steeper than I envisioned, and maintaining a yard is way more work than I bargained for. I felt confident, only to feel overwhelmed and uncertain about our decision. Has anyone else out there had a similar experience?

yeah, no, i think people are skipping over the fact that buyer's remorse often means the house is just not set up for real life (e.g. tiny closets, awful kitchen layout, whatever) instead of JUST being "sorry i spent too much money"

Same situation here, but what about recieve receive* who genuinely thought they were getting a good deal but it turns out the neighborhood is kinda sketchy and the neighbors arent so friendly

Yeah but what about the existential dread of realizing ur now legally responsible for a roof tbh

what do you mean by who genuinely thought they - like were blind to the red flags or something tho

yeah, i'm kinda getting that vibe myself. whats crazy tho is how much the "it's just a roof over your head" thing gets pushed aside - do you think ppl actually believe that, or is it just some weird rationalization at play?

lol yeah same here was feeling good about it til last night when we were unpacking the living room and i kept looking at the price tag on the couch and just felt kinda sick about putting that much money into something that's just a piece of furniture

Tried using a home equity loan to renovate and oh boy, now my "dream home" has a 15yr mortgage on top of the 30yr one

Yeah, I'm experiencing the same feeling after recently buying my first home. We put in a lot of money for renovations and I'm starting to wonder if it was all worth it. But what about the tax benefits and potential long-term appreciation of the property - aren't those supposed to make up for some of the initial cost?

sure, the roof might hold for another 5 years, but what about the year after that? And the one after *that*? Also, why do my neighbors’ lawn gnomes look happier than me?

We had a bunch of little issues pop up during inspection and they all got worked out but now that I've seen the whole house up close, I'm having trouble shaking this feeling that we've gotten a little more than we bargained for – our neighbors are having some pretty intense parties on the weekends and it's been a lot louder than I expected

First time posting but ive been dealing with this exact thing for like 6 months so — what kept me up at night initially (beyond the crippling student loan payments and general fear of being an adult) was the nagging feeling that I'd 'settled' for this place, that it wasn't truly 'mine' just because I put a deposit down

I'm not sure definately definitely* necessarily "buyer's remorse" if you're having second thoughts about a house, maybe it's just that you haven't factored in the actual ongoing costs and maintenance that come with homeownership

first time poster still regretting that 200k downpayment on the wrong neighborhood

Been lurking and kinda hesitant to post but — it's struck me that all this 'buyer's remorse' might be tied up in how we frame homeownership as a symbol of security and stability, rather than just a means to live in a comfortable space?
