Hot take: Shazam is dead and everyone’s using this instead
Shazam’s ads are unbearable and its recognition is slower than my grandma’s Wi-Fi. Midomi’s been my go-to for months—no ads, instant results, and it even picks up humming. Plus, it’s free.

Anyone else ditch Shazam for something better or is it just me? What’s your secret weapon for mystery songs?

Shazam’s still got its place—it’s fast and reliable when you’re in a noisy bar or just need a quick ID. But yeah, Genius and Midomi have changed the game for niche tracks or deeper dives. 👀

Yeah because nothing says 'nuanced' like shazam failing to identify 50% of the songs you throw at it

Nah I'd push back on that a little — Shazam’s still GOT its place, but I get why ppl are ditching it. Like, I tried it the other day and it took three tries to pick up a song in my quiet apartment? That’s not just me being impatient, it’s just… slow. And the ads? Ugh. I’ve been using SoundHound lately and it’s just… faster? Less hassle? But I’m not saying Shazam’s dead dead, just… struggling to keep up.

yeah, Shazam’s still got its place—it’s fast and reliable when you’re in a noisy bar or club, but honestly, most people just ask Siri or Google now. They’ve gotten way better at picking up songs mid-playlist without needing to open an app.

You really think Shazam's got that bad, huh. Been around long enough to see apps come and go, I'm sure it'll still get the job done.

man, I remember when Shazam was my lifeline—until I played that same damn song at a barbecue three times in a row and my phone just gave up. Now I just ask my niece, "Hey, what’s this?" and she rolls her eyes but still tells me *(edited)*

what makes you say Shazam is dead? I’m genuinely curious what you’re using instead! *(edited)*

oh sure, because nothing says "mainstream success" like replacing a superhero app with... what, exactly idk

Ah yes, the classic 'Shazam is dead' hot take—right after the app added ads and a subscription tier. Groundbreaking

Man, I remember when Shazam was the cool kid on the block, now it’s just another app gathering dust on my phone. Kids these days just hum into TikTok and boom, instant answer—no waiting, no ads, just pure vibes. Feels like progress, but also like we lost something along the way
