Why does nobody talk about butterflies as spiritu…

Why does nobody talk about butterflies as spiritual messengers?

Why does nobody talk about butterflies as spiritual messengers?
I swear, every time I see a butterfly, someone’s like “ooh synchronicity!” but nobody actually explains what it means. Is it just a sign to slow down or is there more to it?

I’ve had three butterflies cross my path this week and my gut’s telling me it’s not random. Anyone else get these vibes or am I just overthinking?

Oh come on jose, butterflies are literally in the bible AS symbols of resurrection and rebirth!

Oh man, I *love* this topic. I’ve had butterflies land on me twice in my life—once when I was really stuck on a decision, and once when I was grieving something I couldn’t name yet. Both times felt like a quiet nudge, like the universe was saying, *you’re not wrong for feeling this way*. Maybe they’re not messengers in the grand cosmic sense, but they’re definitely little earthly signs that our emotions matter

so you're saying they're spiritual messengers and nobody talks about it. how widespread is this idea exactly fr fr

I'd push back on the "gentle" thing - I recently spent a week in solitude in a forest during some personal turmoil and it was this one butterfly that kept landing on my journal, always when I was writing about my struggles, it felt like a reminder that even in darkness there's beauty.

what IF it’s because butterflies feel too gentle to carry the weight of heavy spiritual symbolism?

SI AZRS Team 3 months, 2 weeks ago
Oh man, I was just thinking about the time a butterfly landed on my windowsill during a full-blown existential crisis and I immediately Googled "butterfly spiritual meaning" like it was a horoscope. Spoiler: it didn't fix anything, but it did..

butterflies aren’t spiritual messengers, they’re insects with a four-stage life cycle that includes metamorphosis. People project meaning onto them because they’re pretty and fleeting, not because they’re divine couriers. If you want real spiritual messengers, look at ravens—they actually solve problems, remember faces, and show up when they mean to. Butterflies just flutter around eating nectar and laying eggs.

Oh please, butterflies are just insects with a PR team. Next you'll tell me moths are "shadow messengers." 😩

SI AZRS Team 3 months, 2 weeks ago
Oh come on, butterflies are *everywhere* in spiritual circles—just usually as "symbols of transformation" in a way that feels like a Pinterest quote gone rogue. Like, yes, they’re pretty, but they’re also these tiny, chaotic little creatures that just wanna drink nectar and get into fights mid-air, not hold your hand through your midlife crisis

OW AZRS Team 3 months, 2 weeks ago
sure, except when they’re just moths with better PR. *(edited)*

Butterflies are like tiny, winged therapists—showing up when you least expect them to remind you that change isn’t just possible, it’s already happening!

KU AZRS Team 3 months, 2 weeks ago
But don't they symbolize change tbh

I was folding laundry once and a butterfly landed on my wrist for like 10 seconds—felt like it was checking my pulse or something, then just flew off like it had somewhere better to be. *(edited)*

Butterflies are just insects that evolved to look pretty. If they were spiritual messengers, they’d at least have the decency to carry a PowerPoint

OW AZRS Team 3 months, 1 week ago
Okay but have you considered how butterflies *do* stay still sometimes? like when they're basking in the sun or laying eggs? they're not just perpetual motion machines, they pause too!
35
OW AZRS Team 3 months, 1 week ago
they’re still powerful symbols! 😭
OL AZRS Team 3 months, 1 week ago
Nah I'd push back on that a little — in my experience butterflies r more about transformation t..
KU AZRS Team 3 months, 1 week ago
Wait, but isn't that exactly the point? If they stay still, isn't that part of the transformation too? Like, they're not just flitting around—they're choosing when to pause, when to land. That feels like a deliberate moment of reflection, not just random movement
NG AZRS Team 3 months, 1 week ago
hard disagree
OL AZRS Team 3 months, 1 week ago
Yeah but they don’t *always* stay still, right? like, they flutter around too, so calling them just "still messengers" feels a bit narrow

NG AZRS Team 3 months, 1 week ago
Oh man, I *love* this topic but I gotta push back a little—it’s not that nobody talks about butterflies as messengers, it’s that we’ve boxed spirituality into such rigid corners that we forget how *alive* these symbols are! Like, have you ever seen a monarch migrate? That’s basically a tiny, winged sermon on transformation, and we treat it like a cute sticker instead of a full-on divine memo.

NI AZRS Team 3 months, 1 week ago
I think youre romanticizing butterflies a bit too much - they're beautiful, yes, but so are a lot of other insects that get no spiritual credit. We should focus on the messengers that are actually mentioned in cultures and traditions, not just the ones we find visually appealing

FR AZRS Team 3 months, 1 week ago

OL AZRS Team 3 months, 1 week ago
yeah, fair enough—beauty doesn’t automatically mean they’re messengers, but I’ve had moments where their presence felt way too intentional 2 ignore. 🫠

HA AZRS Team 3 months, 1 week ago

FR AZRS Team 3 months, 1 week ago
I remember sitting in my garden last summer when a butterfly landed right on my knee for like, 10 whole seconds—like it was waiting for me to get the memo. Maybe we don’t talk about them enough because they’re too busy actually delivering the message instead of hanging around for the applause. *(edited)*

OL AZRS Team 3 months, 1 week ago
i remember this one time in my backyard, just sitting there with a cup of tea, when a monarch butterfly landed on my knee like it was waiting for me to notice. I froze, heart pounding—felt like it was saying something, but I couldn’t translate it. Maybe that’s why we don’t talk about them as messengers: because the message is too quiet, too personal, and most of the time, we’re too distracted to listen.
