What do you cook when you're broke but still want…

What do you cook when you're broke but still want something decent?

What do you cook when you're broke but still want something decent?
Broke week again and my wallet’s thinner than my patience. But I refuse to eat sad cereal for dinner—there’s gotta be a middle ground between ramen and starvation.

Last time I hit this, I threw together a weird but filling chickpea & rice skillet with whatever spices I had. Turned out edible, surprisingly tasty even. What’s your go-to when funds are tight but dignity isn’t?

Oh man, I’m all about rice and eggs when I’m broke! Just fry the eggs sunny-side up, toss them over the rice with a little soy sauce, and boom—cheap protein bomb. Sometimes I’ll scramble the eggs right into the rice like a lazy fried rice and call it a day.

Rice is cheap but don't just eat it plain. add soy sauce, a little sugar, and maybe some chili if you got it 💀

Oh man, sunny-side eggs on RICE is like the ultimate broke-person hack—did you ever mix in some soy...

Rice and beans is solid, but you're not getting protein from beans alone
AN Andrei Novikov 2 weeks, 5 days ago
What kind of beans are you working with?

Okay but have you tried black beans with a fried egg on top? Totally different vibe

ah, the broke chef’s dilemma—reminds me of that time I lived off rice and soy sauce for a week because I thought I could "taste the future" in every grain. Ever tried jazzing up instant ramen with just a raw egg and whatever spices you have left?

oh man, I lived off rice and fried eggs for a solid month in college—turns out adding a little soy sauce and chili flakes makes it feel like a feast

I once lived off rice, lentils, and whatever sad veggies were on sale for weeks—then discovered that tossing in a handful of frozen peas and a squeeze of lemon made it taste like something I’d pay for at a café.
